    MomsThoughts on Twitter

Twitter should be a fun and happy place for people to come together. These are some of my general rules of thumb based on my experience to help ensure all enjoy Twitter. Its a dynamic list subject to change. Of course, there are ALWAYS exceptions. I would love to hear your do's and don'ts too! Please share!!! Remember, its all about fun and/or sharing.
    *********************************

    Please Don't:

-Don't ask people to follow you, especially celebrities. If some one finds your tweets interesting, they will follow you. Asking people to follow you is awkward, like walking up to a stranger at the mall and asking them to be your friend. It reeks of desperation. Why does it matter if a celeb follows you? If you have something to say to them, tag them! And PLEASE DON'T ask ME to ask people to follow you.

-Don't ask people for personal information. Twitter is a big public forum, it is not a place to exchange personal info w/ strangers. If you do want to exchange info, do so mutually in DM's

-Don't retweet everything and anything that comes across your timeline. If you see a particularly interesting tweet that you think your followers may not know about - or a quote that really inspires you, retweet it. But if your followers wanted to see every tweet by every person you follower - they would follow them too. Limit your RETWEETS!!! PLEASE, EDIT YOURSELF.

-Don't just post ads, especially celebrities. There is no point in following a celeb if all they tweet are commercials about their latest show, movie, perfume, etc. Its boring and we already get enough ads in our life!

-Don't fill up timelines with pages and pages of names of all your 6 million followers on Friday. Pick a few favorites and spread it out over the day.

-Don't constantly tweet hateful, nasty or vulgar tweets. If you don't like someone, unfollow. If you are always bitter and profane, I don't think I want to know you. Opinions are good - rude, profane and hateful is bad. There is a difference. Respect other's right to an opinion.

-Don't carry on endless "conversations" tagging 10 people so that you only have room for one or two words at the end of the tweet. If it is in your timeline, your friends will see it. It is very irritating to be tagged or have your timeline FULL of tweets consisting of 10 names and the word "hi" or "how r u"at the end of a tweet. The same goes for discussions, if a tweeter is not actively engaged in the dialogue, stop tagging them.

-Don't harass people to acknowledge you. Its not the way to win friends. You are just annoying, desperate and pathetic. Avoid whining "you never tweet me" or "what do I have to do get a response" or "so-and-so hates me, he never answers" If someone doesn't tweet you regularly, there is probably a reason. Being a jerk isn't going to win their love.

-If someone unfollows you, move on. Accept they are no longer interested in reading your tweets. Launching a campaign of hate for an unfollow is pointless and only makes you appear bitter. Its Twitter! Get over it!

-Don't track me down on Facebook. If I wanted to invite you to my Facebook, I would share my name with you and invite you. I prefer to keep my Facebook separate from my Twitter for a reason. Mainly for the privacy of my children. Please respect that. But by all means, "LIKE" my MomsThoughts© Facebook Page.

    Please Do:

-Do share great deals, show info, blog articles, news, charities, funny stories, jokes, music, pictures, events, books, products, fashion

-Do share your opinions. Tell me what outrages you, what thrills you, what makes you happy, sad, etc...

-Do drunk tweet! because I find it really fun to read drunk tweets :) I have a list of drunk tweeters, if you would like to be added, please let me know :) Also, please tag your #drunktweets if you are capable. IMPORTANT NOTE: DRUNK DRIVING=NO! DRUNKTWEETING=YES PLEASE!

-Do share inspiration. I love to hear what other's find inspiring.

-Do understand the difference between sarcasm, humor and hate.

-Do join the conversation! If I am tweeting it, I am happy to have all join in. I take private conversations to DM!

-Do let me know if I have missed something. I try really hard to respond to everyone but there are times I am overwhelmed or fall behind. Just let me know! :)

-Do tell me when I am wrong. I appreciate feedback and different opinions. Just be fair about it.

*I think there is a different standard for celebs vs private twitizens. If a celeb makes a living putting themselves and their life out there, they are subject to public scrutiny. If you don't want people to express their opinion about your choices and lifestyle, don't make a living in the public eye. It goes hand in hand. You do not get the benefits of being a "celebrity" without the price of public scrutiny.

NorthPark Center: Cooking Classes at Williams-Sonoma

    Anthony Wilkinson

I love to cook and I love to eat and I found the perfect place at NorthPark Center to do both, the instructional kitchen inside Williams-Sonoma on Wednesday nights. It never really dawned on me that Williams-Sonoma was the kind of place that offered cooking lessons. Not…

#BloomTrends : Alchimie Forever Kantic Brightening Moisture Mask!  I recently gave this brightening mask a test run and it was nice!!!  It goes on really easily - its not too thick or goopy so its easily applied.  Even nicer, it comes off really easily and doesn’t leave behind any traces.  It had a nice feeling while it was on too.  After rinsed off, my skin did feel softer and maybe even had a slightly dewy glow.  I hope with continued use that dewy glow will grow brighter!  (I am always in search of the miracle product that gives me back my youthful skin! )  I would definitely recommend this product!  One of the better masks I have ever used!

#BloomTrends : I had the pleasure of trying out a really nice line of products known as LashFood. I used the eyelash conditioner for a month and I have to say…my lashes do seem more full! YAY! Its a nice formulation that you apply twice a day like an eye liner (its clear, thin oil like substance). It goes on very easily. I was pleased with the result. I think it is a little pricey but if you are really lash challenged, it would be worth the cost. I also tried the LashFood conditioning mascara and eye liner. yes, conditioning! It is good for your lashes!!! The mascara goes on really nicely with out clumping. It looks very full and makes for a dramatic impact. The eyeliner is a liquid liner. The brush is fine allowing for a very fine line….I am more accustomed to a thicker eye liner pencil or gel applicator so it took a few “swipes” to get the line as thick as I like but I am sure I will get better at the application. Its just a matter of getting accustomed to it. It did not smudge and I love that it is also conditioning.

Bistro N – Escape Up To Heaven

    Anthony Wilkinson

On the third floor of Nordstrom at NorthPark Center an invitation to dining divinity awaits you.  Perfectly prepared classic dishes served fresh and elegantly are the reason Bistro N ranks so highly with repeat customers.  I had the pleasure of meeting this very professional staff last week and I was able to experience some of the many signature items they serve.

If you are looking for something light and refreshing for lunch, or the perfect starter to a larger meal, you must try the Crab Stack.  This beautiful presentation is a stack of crabmeat, mango, avocado and cucumber.  It is served with four toast points and a light, cilantro lime vinaigrette that brings it all together to create the perfect balance of fresh and flavorful.  If you are going shopping and just want to grab something light to hold you over, this is a healthy option.

Another salad that has a similar makeup to the crab stack and is also light and refreshing is the Cilantro Lime Shrimp.  Seared wild shrimp are served over a bed of organic baby greens, romaine lettuce, tomato, fresh corn, roasted sweet peppers, and monterey jack cheese.  It is served with tortilla crisps and the same light cilantro lime vinaigrette that again works so perfectly.   Both of these salads for me are great choices because they incorporate fresh seafood with healthy vegetables and give you all the pleasure of a hearty meal minus the guilt.

If you are in the mood for something more like a sandwich you really have to try their signature Bistro Club.  Grilled chicken breast, organic greens, crisp bacon, roma tomatoes, avocado and French green beans are served on a toasted rustic bread finished off with a garlic aioli.  There is something about those French green beans that are so unique in a sandwich but offer the perfect crunch to such wonderful flavors.  The fries that accompany them are without question the best you will ever have.  The chef’s secret batch of spices added with his off-the-chart olive dipping sauce is so different and addictive.  If you are one of those people who only eat a few fries and leave the rest, take my word that you will not leave one on the plate and it will be worth it.

My perfect starter to a larger meal was the Asparagus Tempura.  This crisp delicate batter and lemon chive aioli bring asparagus to a whole new level.  It’s a great addition to a meal that even works as a snack to a cocktail.  Don’t leave without trying these.

On the opposite side of the meal, you really have to experience their signature bread pudding.  I’m not often a huge fan of bread pudding but this one gave me a whole new appreciation for this classic dessert.  In short, the golden brown edges and hot out of the frying pan taste, make you feel like you are enjoying a stuffed pancake.  If you don’t think you have room for dessert then share this because the experience of even one bite is now mandatory.  My compliments to all the chefs who have created such a unique and well-balanced menu that will insure many happy returns.
